How I use my new phone

For those of you who have been checking in on this network, I apologize for the summer absence. I was getting married and taking a honeymoon - which was also my first vacation in about 8 months. I also completed my book Accidental Branding which is now in the hands of my publisher Wiley.

Madmen - New Series Explores Early Days of Advertising

Set your TiVo's to the AMC channel tonight as MadMen premieres. This summer series on AMC is set in the early days of the ad industry and is a fascinating look back. It's also an impressive drama written by a Sopranos heavyweight. I got a sneak peek and it looks like it will be one of the few things worth watching this summer. Let me know what you think.

Will the iPhone be a catalyst for Wi-Fi?

The Wall Street Journal reports today that the iPhone appears to be accelerating the rollout of Wi-Fi hotspots around the country. It seems that iPhone users are using WiFi networks at much higher rates than any mobile device. Should Live Earth Be Telling Us Something?

What is the relationship between a global concert and new media? This weekend, the Live Earth concerts drew a tepid 2.7 million viewers on Saturday night on NBC (3 million is the norm for that timeslot). But the webcasts drew an astounding 8 million viewers, and more are possible. That's a record and startling because it turns the industry model on its head.
