A Youtube Personality named Mr. Zonday hit it big with not one but TWO commercial contracts after his homemade music video hit it big on Youtube. The video got about 12 million hits, enough to grab the attention of executives at Dr. Pepper and Comedy Central, both of which have hired Mr. Zonday to promote their brands with his goofy style and absurdly deep voice.
The New York Times offers some more info on the situation…

Myspace tv has posted a new toyota ad tv series called "Quarterlife", a show about a indie twenty-something with a macbook and enough melancholy to to out-meloncholy Williamsburg. So far I've only watched the first episode, but it doesn't take long to recognise when a show is so blatantly targeted at you. Produced…

As most of us already know, there's a major Screenwriters strike going on in New York and LA this week, and that the networks are all in a tizzy over how they'll fill their air time (good thing Conan is just as funny in rerun form). What some of us may not have noticed, however, is that the strike is all about new media - t…

The New York Times published an article recently about a fortune cookie company located in Queens. I admit that I did not run a thorough check of the NY Times archives, but I can bet the paper has given little press to cookie companies in the past. So how does a seemingly insignifican…

I don't know if you have already reached page 141 of the "Naked Conversations" book, where confidential information disclosure is described as one the main fears corporate managers have towards blogs.
There is actually a new service in France that identified a potential of services. Blogspro is actually a online directory of blogs but to suscribe, the bloggers need to mention in which companies they worked and are currently working.
Therefore anyone can do a search by company na…

I have to admit, I hate living in New Haven, because coming into the city for BKLN 2.0 would be too much of a hassle, even though this meetup sounds cool. David Sklar of Ning.com is coming to talk to whoever wants to ask him questions tonight. Here's the meetup link:

To the Group Five
I'm interested in learning more about Bluetooth - I know it's used more widely in Europe, but our concert place is a wireless hotspot downtown and I'd like to take advantage. The Dove Real Beauty Campaign initially had an sms # on their Times Square billboard to write in votes and I heard it was really successful.
Here is a bluetooth marketing site: http://www.zipzonemedia.com/
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I know we have talked about many companies that have successful used blogs to connect with thier customers but I am still unclear as to where these blogs are actually hosted. Can anyone give me a few examples of successful company blogs that are hosted directly on the company's main website?

Gwen summarized very well in words & pictures that the brand offers the opportunity to the girls to express their personnality and also be their best.
I have found a few other examples which illustrate this.
First, the vision statement, which is visible on the back of each books that are sold in the store and is also on the welcome page of their website:

This evening Christel and I met up at "American Girl Place", in the heart of Manhattan's swankiest midtown shopping district. Windy (who had a scheduling conflict) will be visiting the store tomorrow before class and I'm sure she'll have some stories to share, but to get things starting I'll give everybody a basic run…

Ugh. I just read this, which tells me that Chevron is pouring 15 million big ones into a new ad campaign that basically tells consumers that they have no choice but to keep burning oil.

I first heard this song on a WNYC radio weekend program. It was from a story by Jon Langford, how he randomly picked a group of people, brought them into a recording studio and taped the "One Hit Wonder" version of Rocketman.
I thought it was a lot of fun, and it's perfect example of a "niche" song. It would've never been produced by a record label.
