Urban A Local SEO The Demise Of The Do Follow Lists

Just about anyway that you would search for Do Follow blogs and lists you'll find my website. It is usually in the top 3 and it has been there a long time. But Comment spam destroyed these lists. I would like to invite you to read The Demise of the Do Follow Lists. It is a good example of how selfless actions of a few can hurt many! Urban A Local SEO Social Media Done Right - A Contest That Helps Promote Your Business

A few days back, I received an interesting email from Start Up Nation. This site is an absolutely tremendous source of information for the beginning entrepreneur. I discovered this site several months back while doing some research. I liked the site enough that I became a member. The site has become a friend of sorts. I have visited often over the last four months. The site is definitely jammed with great information. They send me periodic updates. When I saw their email in my inbox I quickly… Continue

Gwen Schantz Posting on Youtube Pays for Mr. Zonday

A Youtube Personality named Mr. Zonday hit it big with not one but TWO commercial contracts after his homemade music video hit it big on Youtube. The video got about 12 million hits, enough to grab the attention of executives at Dr. Pepper and Comedy Central, both of which have hired Mr. Zonday to promote their brands with his goofy style and absurdly deep voice.

The New York Times offers some more info on the situation

Gwen Schantz first network-quality tv series debuts online

Myspace tv has posted a new toyota ad tv series called "Quarterlife", a show about a indie twenty-something with a macbook and enough melancholy to to out-meloncholy Williamsburg. So far I've only watched the first episode, but it doesn't take long to recognise when a show is so blatantly targeted at you. Produced

Gwen Schantz Digital Pencils and Picket Signs

As most of us already know, there's a major Screenwriters strike going on in New York and LA this week, and that the networks are all in a tizzy over how they'll fill their air time (good thing Conan is just as funny in rerun form). What some of us may not have noticed, however, is that the strike is all about new media - t

Caitlin Weaver Subway advertising

An article in today's Wall Street Journal discusses the latest trend in advertising in Shanghai--on the subway. The article talks about a new film that will debut exclusively on thousands of high-tech flat screen monitors on Shanghai's subway cars and station platforms. But here's the rub: instead of an ordinary film, the so-called "subopera" is a blend of drama and advertising. A venture between Starbuck… Continue

Gwen Schantz Good Press for Bad Little Cookies

The New York Times published an article recently about a fortune cookie company located in Queens. I admit that I did not run a thorough check of the NY Times archives, but I can bet the paper has given little press to cookie companies in the past. So how does a seemingly insignifican

Christel Discover a company through its bloggers

I don't know if you have already reached page 141 of the "Naked Conversations" book, where confidential information disclosure is described as one the main fears corporate managers have towards blogs.

There is actually a new service in France that identified a potential of services. Blogspro is actually a online directory of blogs but to suscribe, the bloggers need to mention in which companies they worked and are currently working.

Therefore anyone can do a search by company na

Caitlin Weaver The Dark Side of Social Networking

There is an article in the WSJ this morning about Orkut, the largest social network in Brazil (owned by Google) that we talked about. It talks about the fact that what makes social-networking sites so popular -- the ability of anyone to post material -- also makes them hard to control. Orkut was ad-free for a long time, and when Google started to run ads on the site, it ran into trouble as the ads appeared alongside objectionable content, lik pictures of naked children and abused animals. This c… Continue

John Hodgins Ning.com's David Sklar at BKLN 2.0 Tonight (Tuesday, October 16)

I have to admit, I hate living in New Haven, because coming into the city for BKLN 2.0 would be too much of a hassle, even though this meetup sounds cool. David Sklar of Ning.com is coming to talk to whoever wants to ask him questions tonight. Here's the meetup link:

To the Group Five

I'm interested in learning more about Bluetooth - I know it's used more widely in Europe, but our concert place is a wireless hotspot downtown and I'd like to take advantage. The Dove Real Beauty Campaign initially had an sms # on their Times Square billboard to write in votes and I heard it was really successful.
Here is a bluetooth marketing site: http://www.zipzonemedia.com/

Christel American Girl- follow-up!

Gwen summarized very well in words & pictures that the brand offers the opportunity to the girls to express their personnality and also be their best.
I have found a few other examples which illustrate this.

First, the vision statement, which is visible on the back of each books that are sold in the store and is also on the welcome page of their website:
